| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Theme tune compilations have historically set themselves the difficult task of being based around a particular subject or genre. Not this four-disc set however. It's a simple alphabetical arrangement of the 200 chosen titles. You'll start with The A-Team and finish with The X-Files. In between is a heavy leaning toward American shows. Despite no sectional groupings, you'll find Westerns (Bonanza, The High Chaparral, Wild Wild West), sci-fi (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Star Trek), crime drama (Murder She Wrote, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues) and sitcoms (Cheers, Roseanne, Taxi). UK favourites include The Bill, The Prisoner, Red Dwarf and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It ought to be pointed out that although re-recordings, these are from the Silva Screen label's (now rather huge) catalogue and therefore of superior quality. You'll be amazed by how many you know just from a few notes. With that in mind, this is the ideal trivia quiz accompaniment!--Paul Tonks

Not originals but still good. November 26, 2007 tmb110 (Pennsylvania, USA) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Even though these are not the original television themes, the songs are still done really well. It is kind of refreshing to hear songs you know well done differently. Highly recommended!
Not originals but mostly good quality renditions. October 17, 2006 San Miguel (Cheshire) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Don't be put off by the fact that these are not original recordings. They have been reproduced with no expense spared - full orchestra with good musicians doing solos pieces, many of which are almost identical to the original recordings. I play the saxophone myself so I am quite picky about what recordings I buy - I wouldn't accept one bloke with his casio keyboard trying to recreate these classics.
Having said that, it is by no means perfect. Some of the tracks are a bit weak and not convincing at all but then you are getting 100 themes (must have taken an eternity to record). One plus with these recordings is that many themes are extended versions, if you bought original recordings you would mostly be getting very short tracks indeed. Some of the extended material is good and some isn't so great. My advice is that if you are after a specific theme, check out a website that lets you hear a sample first to make sure you will not be disappointed. If you just want to add these tunes to your collection then go ahead and buy it - it's excellent value for money.
Originals? Stop Fooling Yourselves! August 26, 2008 Matthew S. Morrison (Northern Ireland, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Frankly, anyone who buys a CD of music from the City of Prague Philharmonic expecting it to comprise of originals is either short-sighted or panning the orchestra just for the sake of it. It's like criticising your local orchestra for not being the London Phil or the Skywalker Symphony - you can enjoy the music regardless.
Are these tracks original? No. Are they very good representations? Absolutely. I've had countless hours of enjoyment from this CD and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to those listeners who want a good mix of TV themes from all genres or are looking for one of the more obscure TV themes.
100 greatest tv themes(boxed set) December 20, 2003 8 out of 18 found this review helpful

why can you never get the origanals October 25, 2002 T. D. Rumble (U.k) 27 out of 31 found this review helpful
this is not the album tv theme fans want. for one thing some songs such as little house on the prarie arent any good hold no cult value and who would play in in the car. I think theyve just thrown any old tune together the knight rider tune is rubbish after half way threw you wouldn't recognize it. this is a good album for the money but they left out so many more good tunes like street hawk and knight rider 2000
