Atmospheric and memorable October 18, 2006 S. C. Trump (Upminster, Essex) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you've bought the vinyl version of the soundtrack years ago, you're in for a treat here. With loads of extra tracks and a shade under an hours playing time, this is a worthwhile purchase. Yes, a lot of the bonus tracks are variations on the famous theme tune, but hey we want to hear that ! Every track brings back memories of THAT film which I really must rewatch after so many years at the back of the cupboard.
Ennio Morricone excels March 5, 2007 Jay (Mauritius) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
What's the first thing thing that comes to your mind when you hear the album title? Da Da Da Duu. DAH DAH DAH... The haunting theme tune is now a popular ringtone..shows the lasting value in a time of ever changing tastes and technology. The rest of the album stands out especially Story of A Soldier.
Great soundtrack August 30, 2009 P. Bucknall 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the film and the soundtrack is so distinctive. A great CD including all the main themes from this classic Western.
It's Not Bad Or Ugly. May 20, 2009 J. Thompson (Essex UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the template for all Morricone's Western soundtracks.
It's impossible to to underestimate the influence of this album, it's like Highway 61 Revisted or Sargent Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band.
For atmosphere & inovation this is very difficult to beat, although another Morricone soundtrack The Mission & Vangelis Chariots Of Fire can't be ignored.
This is essential whether you collect soundtracks or not.
The good, the bad and the ugly January 31, 2009 Mr. T. Ward 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Excellent musically, combining atmosphere with menace. Stands alone without the film. Only thing missing is the sound of gunshots.
