A must for any lover of musicals February 14, 2007 Mr. G. Dickson (U.K) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have just listened to the cd and it is fantastic. It doesn't matter if you are a "python" lover or not. Fantastic song writing, arrangements, great vocal performances and the production on this cd is first class. Tim Curry is as always delivering a great vocal performance, as are the rest of the cast. It is brilliant. Buy it, you wont be dissapointed!
can't wait to see it in London March 24, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The songs are excellent. Great melodies, new and old Python songs. Funny but with underlying social criticism and the great message that you should live your life like you want to. Find your Grail ! After I heard the CD I bought tickets for this year's show in London. Something to look forward to.
Brilliant! January 26, 2006 Jackie Williams 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An absolute classic Python musical, which we Brits will finally get to see this year, as it's being launched at the London Palace Theatre. My particular favourite has to be 'You Won't Succeed on Broadway'. Any song with the lines 'There's a very small percentile/Who enjoys a dancing gentile' has to be a classic, in my book!
I like Ham & Jam & Spamalot! July 27, 2010 Andrew Whitby (Leeds, England) A very funny, Flesh Wound inducing Musical 'lovingly ripped off' from the 1975 film Monty Python & the Holy Grail.
All 24 Tracks on the CD are 'varry nice' tunes and give you a good idea of what the Musical is trying to do.
A lot of the songs are send ups and parodies of big musicals and composers i.e. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Broadway Schmaltz tradition.
Some of the cast on the album are quite well known actors and make a good job of the songs:
King Arthur - Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show, Muppet Treasure Island)
Sir Galahad - Hanz Azaria (The Simpsons, Along came Polly)
Brave Sir Robin - David Hyde Pierce - (Niles in Frasier)
Some stand out songs on the album for me are;
Fisch Slapping Dance
The Song that goes like this
He is not yet Dead
Knights of the round table
His name is Lancelot
If you like Monty Python or comedy in general or your name is Dennis check this album out and definetley do so if you plan to see a production of Spamalot.
Ni!
