this new album is being promoted with the same name as the forthcoming movie.
even though these are all studio tracks not the expected live versions.
with only one "new" track in two versions and a handful of demos.
will 'this is it' be released as a single?, probably in december.
to tie in with the release of the new dvd.
could michael have the christmas number one?, possibly if the single includes rare tracks.
the fans pay the price for being michael jackson fans.
it deserves 5 stars for the quality of the music.
1 star for the concept.Michael Jackson's This Is It

All I will say is, what a fantastic album. Absolutely Brilliant and a real tribute to his untimely death.

I went and saw the This Is It film last week and i thought it was awesome i loved every second and i now can't wait for the DVD to be released. My partner bought this album for me and i have to say this... yes it may be another greatest hits album but please people this the SOUNDTRACK album to the film and for my money and being a BIG fan of Michaels' music this is an essential buy so please ignore the negative reviews on here and buy it if you are a true fan. R.I.P Michael your fans still love you!!!
a real classic October 24, 2009 Kv Summers (Staffordshire, UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Although I appreciate how annoying Sony are being not including more unreleased songs, I just couldn't rate this album poorly. I mean the track list is so incredible and as someone who had tickets to the concert its defainately a keep sake, acting as a reminder of just how great this man was and will always be. But as others, I am also a little frustrated by the lack of new material. We know he's got classics in the vaults so where the hell are they? You just know Sony are going to drag out his catalogue of unreleased songs for years and years.
Basically I had to write a review for this album as I adore the new song 'this is it', yes its not perfect and I don't believe for one second that if he were alive Michael would have released it but it gives us the fans an insider of the genius that is Michael Jackson, in a very pure form. His voice so smooth and warm it melts the heart and it reinstates the facts that he had the greatest tone to his voice ever and was by far the greatest vocalist. Untouchable.
Then I heard the demo of 'shes out of my life' and it is INCREDIBLE. It's Michael singing with just a guitar and it's amazing. It moves the heart. The quality of it is fantastic. I'm not just saying that, I reckon it could be a number one in itself. This album is worth buying for the new single and the demos. I just can't wait for it now.
Yes this is mainly a compilation CD. But it is the soundtrack to what was going to be the greatest concert of all time. The demos, poem and 'new' song are fantastic bonuses. So this album is a must, a real gem. But Sony must realize from now on we want more of his unreleased work, stuff we haven't heard before. Simply put, we want Michael back.
Looking for a Must Have CD?? This Is It! November 13, 2009 Sylvia Knowing that this CD contains previously released tracks may not fill the prospective buyer with excitement, but it really should!! The collection of music on CD1 is amazing, and after seeing the movie, you can see them in your mind's eye, being performed (albeit at rehearsal level, which although obviously not the finished product, is awe inspiring and incredible) and feel the energy behind each note. The tracks follow the sequence of rehearsal numbers in the film and therefore work really well together. CD2 contains previously unreleased tracks, - She's Out of My Life, where a young Michael asks to do it again, as he sang the wrong lyrics! Wanna Be starting Something demo, Michael's pure voice singing the harmonies of Beat It (whilst beatboxing) and last but not least the beautiful, haunting poem "Planet Earth" which Michael wrote and was published in 1992 in his gorgeous second book "Dancing The Dream". Michael's voice is clear and so expressive, and I could listen to this on a loop for hours on end! As if all this is not enough, the 36 page booklet formation of the CD case is lovely, and an unusual "book" design, with great pictures of Michael during the rehearsals for his planned This Is It concert run. He really does look great, and I'm so sad that he is no longer with us. We've lost a true treasure. I totally recommend this CD, to all MJ fans and indeed anyone who appreciates incredible musical, artistic talent.
